These policies ensure that The Learning Source treats students fairly while allowing the organization to retain reasonable funds for the services provided.
Class fees and charges paid to the school for goods and services (instruction) which have not been provided by the school shall be fully refunded. A student may cancel this agreement at no penalty, provided the student has not begun instruction. If the student withdraws or stops attending after instruction has begun, the school may retain not more than tuition liability as of the student's last date of physical attendance. Students in violation of school policies and/or local, state, or federal law are still eligible for tuition refund if the student is dismissed / expelled from the school.
Refund due dates
- If the student never attended class (no show) or verbally/in writing cancels the enrollment prior to the class start date, the refund will be made within 45 calendar days of the first scheduled day of class or the date of cancellation, whichever is earlier, minus the $25.00 registration fee.
- For an enrolled student attending classes, the refund will be calculated using the last date of attendance (LDA) and will be made within 45 calendar days from the documented date of determination (DOD).
The date of determination is:
a) the date the student gives written/verbal notice of withdrawal to The Learning Source
b) the date The Learning Source administratively withdraws the student
c) the date The Learning Source terminates the student due to the student’s failure to adhere to the school attendance, conduct, or student progress policy violations.
In the event the student provides advanced verbal/written notice of withdrawal from classes 45 days or more in advance of their last day of attendance, then any refund due to the student shall be paid within 45 days from the last date of attendance (LDA). In summary, refunds are calculated from the last date of attendance (LDA).
Nonrefundable fee
The enrollment fee ($25.00) is nonrefundable. An enrollment fee is charged for each class a student enrolls in.
Classes will run based upon enrollment. If a class is canceled prior to start, a full refund will be issued including the $25 registration fee.
Refund method
Due to ACCET’s refund policy, students are requested, but not required, to submit written notification of withdrawal as a condition of processing a refund. The amount will be electronically refunded to the account used to pay for the class(es). If the method of original payment is no longer available for a refund, the student may request a check to be processed and mailed to the student. The failure of a student to notify the school in writing of a refund method may delay the refund of tuition.
Prorated Refund Amounts
The Learning Source will calculate the refund amount in accordance with the Colorado Department of Education regulations, except in cases where the refund policy of our potential national accreditor, the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET), is more favorable to the student. In this case the ACCET refund policy will be used instead of Colorado Department of Education regulations. http://docs.accet.org/downloads/docs/doc31ESL.pdf
Prorated refunds will be calculated on a weekly basis. Partial attendance during any week will be counted as completion of a whole week provided that the student was present in class at some point during the scheduled week.
The Learning Source is obligated to pay prorated refunds to students who are terminated due to violation of The Learning Source’s written, disciplinary and/or attendance policies or local, state, or federal law.
Cancellations/Withdrawal
The following constitute cancellation and withdrawal requirements:
The Learning Source may cancel a class due to low enrollment or for any other reason. In this event, any tuition and registration fees paid to the school will be refunded.
Cancellation by a student within seven days after signing or failure of a student to appear for the class qualifies as a “no-show” and will be refunded all money paid to the school, with the exception of the non-refundable registration fee of $25.00.
If a student withdraws or is terminated after the start of class and after the cancellation period, The Learning Source shall retain the registration fee ($25.00) plus the cost of any textbooks or supplies accepted, plus the following percentage of amounts for tuition as of the student’s last date of physical attendance according to the refund policy outlined below.
Refund policy
A pro-rata refund is applied based on the amount of the course completed. If the student has completed more than 60% of the course, no refund is generally required. Tuition liability as of the student's last date of physical attendance is determined by the percentage of the program offered to the student. If termination occurs The Learning Source may keep :
0 - 15% of the program 0%
16 - 30% of the program 25%
31 - 45% of the program 50%
46 - 60% of the program 75%
After 60% of the program 100%
